AI and your photos

This is the detail behind the AI section of our Privacy Policy. It explains exactly what happens when you run a photoshoot.

What gets sent

When you start a photoshoot, the photo you selected is sent to our processing service, and from there to Google Cloud Vertex AI. Nothing else goes with it — no name, no email, no account identifier. The models receive an image and a text instruction.

Two things are requested:

• A description and valuation. The photo is analysed and returns a title, brand, category, condition, estimated price and description.
• Listing photos. New images are generated from your photo. If you use style previews, one image is generated per style; the final shoot produces four.

Where it is processed

Our service sends requests to whichever Google Cloud region has capacity, rotating across multiple regions in the EU and USso a busy region doesn’t fail your shoot.

This means your photo may be processed in the United States. That transfer relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses together with Google’s supplementary safeguards. If you would rather your photos never leave the EEA, do not use the photoshoot feature — the rest of the app (manual entry, collection, valuation history) works without it.

What is kept

By us:the photo you uploaded and the generated images, in your account’s storage, until you delete the item or your account.

By Google: Vertex AI processes each request and returns a result. Google does not use Vertex AI customer content to train its models. We do not enable any caching or logging of prompt content beyond what is needed to serve the request.

Your photos are never used to train any model— ours or anyone else’s.

Automated decision-making

The price the app suggests is an estimate produced by a model, and it is advisory only. It has no legal or similarly significant effect on you: you set the real price, and nothing is decided about you automatically. It can be wrong, and you can edit every field before saving.

Accuracy

Generated images are synthetic. They are built from your photo but are not photographs of your item. If you use them in a marketplace listing, make sure they still represent the item honestly — condition, colour and included accessories especially. Some marketplaces have their own rules about AI-generated imagery.
